How music was captured
An early Edison tinfoil phonograph could hold roughly a minute of recorded sound. Edison's tinfoil phonograph caused a public sensation in 1878 because recorded sound itself was still astonishingly new. Some of the earliest phonographs were powered simply by hand-spun wheels rather than electricity.
