Inside the instrument

The Cloud guitar's fretboard markers combine male and female symbols, another custom detail in Prince's instrument design. The distinctive Cloud body shape was inspired by an earlier bass design built for Prince's friend André Cymone. Prince later had the guitar repainted peach for the Sign o' the Times period.
