From the workbench
The Slingerland Songster, made in Chicago in the late 1930s, was among the earliest commercially marketed solid-body electric guitars. The electric guitar's familiar solid-body form had commercial examples before World War II. Slingerland's solid-body Songster appeared several years before Les Paul's famous experimental Log guitar.
