Inside the instrument

J Dilla's Minimoog was built by Moog Music in Asheville, North Carolina. The Minimoog Voyager is a monophonic analog synthesizer, meaning it is designed around one played note at a time. The Smithsonian preserves J Dilla's studio equipment as part of the history of hip-hop production and American music.
