Instrument detail
Stinson later operated a teaching studio in Pittsburgh and sold banjos for students. A surviving Stinson banjo reflects both professional performance and the growing market for student instruments in the late 1800s. In 1888, Stinson won a Kansas City banjo competition against eleven white competitors.
