Wire & Nail
From recording history
Alexander Graham Bell's Volta Laboratory was among the places experimenting with recorded sound in the 1880s. The Volta Laboratory made an experimental sound recording on a glass disc on November 17, 1884. Some of the earliest surviving sound experiments used glass discs rather than the materials that later became standard.
