Artist

Kevin Van Ess and his Dixieland Jazz Band

Instrument story

Slingerland briefly sold electric guitars before leaving that market around 1940 to concentrate on percussion instruments. A late-1930s Slingerland catalog offered a Songster guitar, case, and amplifier package for $150. The Slingerland Songster, made in Chicago in the late 1930s, was among the earliest commercially marketed solid-body electric guitars.
